Why we built Studio
Researchers already use AI to draft beautiful figures—but the last mile is still painful. Labels need fixing. Resolution is too low for a journal. A flowchart from a paper is only a screenshot. A chart needs one more series. And the “final” PNG is almost never truly editable.
Editable Figure Studio brings generation, enhancement, vector conversion, and online editing into one flow designed for scientific communication: manuscripts, slides, posters, and graphical abstracts.
Three figure modes, one workspace
Studio is organized around how scientists actually work:
- Illustration — Create or refine scientific illustrations from text, sketches, or reference figures. Modes include Ref Figure to Figure, Sketch to Figure, Text to Figure, and Enhance Figure.
- Diagram — Generate scientific flowcharts and process diagrams in Standard or Hand-drawn style, with Flash and Advanced tiers. Flash is currently offered as a limited-time free option for fast text-to-diagram drafts.
- Plot — Build polished scientific charts from a description, with optional CSV / Excel data or a reference image to reproduce or guide the layout.
Enhance Figure: clarity without rewriting your science
When you already have a figure and mainly need quality, Enhance Figure gives you two paths:
- AI Enhance & Upscale — Improves clarity and presentation while aiming to preserve scientific content. You can optionally guide the result with a short prompt, pick HD / 4K / 8K, and choose among leading image models (8K locks to the most advanced model to protect quality).
- Image Upscale — Uses an advanced deep-learning upscaler that stays faithful to original detail. No prompt is required—just upload your image and choose a target resolution.
Convert: from flat image to editable SVG
Studio’s Convert flow mirrors the homepage chat experience: upload or paste a PNG/JPG, run AI vectorization, then download a pure vector SVG or a partial image-embed SVG when intricate regions need to stay crisp.
From the result you can Copy to PowerPoint, Edit Online in Studio’s SVG editor, or Save to Project so your work stays organized for the next revision.
Edit online, then ship
Generation is only half the story. Studio’s online editors let you continue refining illustrations and diagrams after the first pass—so a near-miss draft becomes a figure you can actually submit or present.
Pair that with Projects storage (on eligible plans) and you get a practical loop: generate → convert or enhance → edit → save → revisit.
